DOSC TWiki snapshot as of mid-2005
At Dartmouth, fireplaces used to be a primary source of heat for rooms.
Currently students can warm themselves in front of one of three natural gas? fires in Collis. Fireplaces in dorm common areas? have been blocked off as long as I've been here (since fall of 1999), although I have fond memories of having a couple of fires in a friend's dorm room fireplace? (in Richardson Hall?). It was great fun to have a warm fire while studying, although I'm sure that rising insurance costs are one of the primary reasons for the demise of "personal fireplaces" at Dartmouth. What about fireplaces in Parkhurst? I presume that some of them still work....
