Subject: Weekly Meetings
Hi!
We hope everyone's been enjoying Winter Carnival. We were considering making a snow penguin on the Green, but the snow is just too dry.
In order to increase Linux use and awareness on campus, we're revamping the linux.dartmouth.edu website and we've decided to start having weekly meetings.
Meetings could evolve to serve many purposes, including
- Structured method of planning projects or events
- time for people to give/receive help on using Linux, etc...
- place for people to give a mini-talk on some aspect of admining linux
- time for us to have fun
This week's meeting will be on Friday Feb 14, (3 - 4 PM).
We'll be meeting in the conference room in the basement of Berry (where we held the planning meeting for the Install Fest -- see below for info.)
Topics for this meeting are:
- How do we encourage Linux use?
- MicrosoftCampusAgreement -- What is it and why won't Dartmouth give us information?
- IMAP, Blitzmail, and Email on Linux: Options for new users and public machines.
- Linux/OpenSource/Techie meetings -- What do we want them to be?
Feel free to discuss any of these topics on the mailing list. Additional information can be found on the wiki (see below).
If you're interested in attending or have input concerning weekly meetings but won't be there on Friday, please let us know.
More Information:
We hope to see you all there on Friday!
