RunLinuxFromCD

Well, I know that you can boot linux from a 3.5" floppy and from a cd, but I'm wondering if you could have a CD that you could carry around with these properties:

• bootable
• can run X and a windowmanager from the CD (like KDE).
• as flexible as possible (to be able to run on many different x86 hardware setups)

• can run just a few basic applications (nice to run more, but let's take baby steps before we run...)
  • some webbrowser (say Mozilla or the new tiny Mozilla..)
  • some email app (NetBlitz will work fine for now)
  • emacs (hey, when you have a craving to code... you have a craving.. :)
  • openoffice (not necessary, but would be nice)

linux from cd websites

• Knoppix works great! I burned a cd of it and tried it out on a PC. (need to put a URL in here)
• http://www.demolinux.org/ -- based on debian; cool site for 'demo cds' for people to try linux, or for a linux-in-my-pocket kind of tool.
