WeeklyMeetingFeb7y2003
Topics to discuss:
- How are we running the linux.dartmouth.edu website?
- What are we doing with the FAQ-o-Magic and the TWiki?
- How do we want to run weekly meetings?
The Meeting
Okay, so we had a meeting with Joe and Sydney (
SydneyLu? -- new guy, experienced in
BSD and
Debian). One of the
TACOS guys was there for a little while, too. He said that we should do some computing-challenge stuff with the Sun guys..
We pretty much discussed what was on the agenda (yay us!), and here's what we decided:
How are we running the linux.dartmouth.edu website? / What are we doing with the FAQ-o-Magic and the TWiki?
Right now we have two somewhat-confusing websites that aren't updated very often. What we plan to do is:
- Put a skin (GnuSkin ?) on the TWiki and use that to make the interface a bit more user-friendly.
- Fold the data on the FAQ-O-Matic into the wiki (retire FAQ).
- Make a very nice frontpage (wiki page) for the linux.dartmouth.edu redirect, (see Gnu site with the skin for example of that...)
- Get a critical quantity of information up for beginners (should be info about everything the average beginner wants to do under Linux).
I'm going to install the skin, then
Sydney is going to work on folding in data from the
FAQ and writing new documentation, as well as ??? (making the front page?)
Jared is going to sit down and write up what magic he executed to get the
PowerPCBeige? running Debian hella fast. Props to Jared for some mad overnight skills in getting that working, as he would put, "so fine".
Sam, (Jared), Joe -- what do you want to do?
How do we want to run weekly meetings?
I (Robinson) am going to plan the next meeting. We have a bit of a chicken-egg issue here, so we're not going to put any hard-and-fast rules into place until we have input from the general linux community about how we want to run these thing (and when we want to have them).
Date and Time -- Friday the 14th, at 3:00.
Location -- conference room in the basement of Berry.
