The phrase "Free Software" means different things to different people. free software (1) "Software that is free for use for any purpose by an individual" free software (2) "Software that conforms to a license such as the GPL. Not only is the software free, the source code from such a program is also freely available for anyone to use (see the GPL license for more details)" In the context of Open Software, Linux, etc... the term "Free Software" almost always refers to the 2nd definition; in this Wiki, we will assume the second definition, unless explicitly stated.
