ZaurusWirelessSetup
So if you're setting up a wireless card for some random network, you can probably use the GUI.
But if you're using Dartmouth's network, if you try to use the
GUI, you'll find that it does not want you to enter in a space in the SSID field. It's a bug, but just go through the steps in the
GUI and then leave the SSID field set to KiewitWireless (that will make the next step easier).
You need to get a file manager or the terminal app onto the Zaurus to get around the bug. If there is a way with the stock software, I'd love to hear how!
Terminal
Okay, so the terminal is definately easier, because you have ultimate power (and rightly so!)
- With the terminal app, cd to /home/etc/
- copy sq_wlancfg.conf to sq_wlancfg.conf.old
- open up the original file with pico or vi, and look for the line
DesiredSSID="KiewitWireless"
, then change that to DesiredSSID="Kiewit Wireless"
, and save the file.
- you may need to switch network locations or eject the network card to kickstart the wireless network.
File Manager
- basically the same -- navigate into /home/etc/, and then look for a menu option that allows you to edit the file.
- (more later...)
