DLGLogoPage

The DLG Logo Page! We don't have a mascot or logo yet, so please put up pictures here (or links to the pictures).

You can look at my pictures but you can't laugh at them...

Seriously: It may seem anal, but please tell us how we may use the pictures you submit. If the art wasn't created by you, please give us the author's name and terms of use?. This is especially important because the wiki is covered by the FDL (see the license in the lower right corner of your screen), and we'd like all of this information to be freely available to the world (and also any aliens who happen to be wandering through our solar system?).

Where to start?

Try to find pictures of Tux, The BSD guy, the Gnu Water Buffalo? (or whatever he is), etc...

The Pictures:

Hey!!! we have some new stuff here for the DOSC Logo... check it out

Here are a few pages -- labeled #1, #2, and #3. Feel free to post comments about them here or on the linux users mailing list.

The penguin is certainly not mine, but I did put the Dartmouth sphere together. Obviously no great graphics art talent here... ... It's on my secure server, and I made the certificate, you don't worry about the warning.

Check out the images at https://hecke.dartmouth.edu/~trs/LinuxAtDartmouth.html

How may we use images?: unknown

TilmannSteinberg is next to show us his "Quick but simple picture" of Tux the penguin with a "D" on his belly. (Tilmann notes: "Based on the official version by Larry Ewing ")

Picture is here: http://minbar.cs.dartmouth.edu/~shadows/linux-at-dartmouth-penguin.png

How may we use images?: Tilmann says that we can do whatever we want with the logo (just credit Ewing).

Okay, I (RobinsonTryon) decided to jump into the fray here.

My first one is like Tilmann's, but I was having trouble bending the text around Tux (he's convex). Help?

The second image is me testing some different things (big thanks to GIMP's "Script Fu?" for the scripts to make the cool text!)

How may we use them?:

I did the rest using GIMP. Pictures are free for anyone to use (just mention names of Larry, Gnu, etc..)

Keep them coming! -- anyone want to play with one of the Gnu images?
