History

Computing Services has a rich and amusing history, but unfortunately I know only small fragments.

Dartmouth has created many amusing and useful pieces of software, including the BASIC programming language, Blitzmail, Fetch, and the Dartmouth Time-share System.

The XYZ and Excalibar chat programs predate me, but I have heard many interesting and wonderful things about them.

Please add information here, or make a new node like DartmouthComputingHistory?, and put in information about JohnKemeny? and all of the other people who have contributed to our school.

Oh, and we can't forget dear Kiewit, warm and (slightly) funny-looking as you walked north on Main street. It had printers that were so easily accessible, not burried in a basement somewhere.... :)
