The Environmental Studies Division of the DOC, often known as 'ESD', was founded in the fall of 1969 when students from Cabin and Trail met up with students taking classes in Ecology.

The ESD has had a significant impact at Dartmouth, influencing ECO and other groups. I'm not sure exactly who runs the Organic Farm, but I think that it's related to the ESD folks.

IIRC, the ESD was promoting the GreenPrint system because it reduced paper waste?. Although waste at the printer has gone down (we recycle about a half of an ordinary recycling bin? of paper a day), overall paper consumption has increased. Hopefully there
