FrenchFries

French Fries are a very yummy food. Here on campus, most people prefer HOP fries? to those that you get at Food Court.

I was looking for nutritional information? about fries, and a thought popped into my head:

Stealth Fries

My quest for information lead me to the webpage of Stealth Fries?.

I'll bet that you didn't know that Stealth Fries? have a super secret? "...exclusive coating that is virtually transparent?. This coating makes sure that the fries stay hot and crispy for more than 20 minutes!!!"
(from http://www.lambwestonmeijer.nl/LWM_En/html_en/fries_en/stealth_fries.htm )

Nutritional Information

After having a few seconds of fun from stealth fries?, I found a few pages with what I was looking for...kind of.

Unfortunately on one had info on a per-fry basis. Perhaps we can go to Food Court next week and weigh a french fry.

Childish Politicians strike again

Because France? isn't kowtowing (sp?) to the USA's wishes that we go to war, the House? dining facilities? (on capitol hill?) are now calling french fries "Freedom Fries".

"Rep. Bob Ney?, R-Ohio, the chair of the committee responsible for House security?, on Tuesday ordered the word ``French'' stricken from all House menus. The action was unilateral. No vote was required.

``It's a symbolic gesture?,'' said Ney, the House Administration Committee? leader, who is of French descent? and speaks French? fluently. ``Not to slap the French around, but people are not hot on the French government right now. This is just to send a message to the troops to say that here in the Capitol, we are not happy.''" 1

(emphasis added)

No word yet on whether Ney just acting childish this week or if he will continue this scherade during the entire Iraq Conflict?.

If Ney is really enforcing this change, I suggest that they rename foods such as 'Russian Dressing?' and 'Chinese Stir Fry?', as the current administration? is unhappy with those countries. Despite the trouble of having everything be named 'Freedom -this' and 'Freedom-that', I'm sure that people will be able to order their meals. As for my afternoon repast, I'll be dining on Hamburger? and the food formerly known as French Fries?.
