LinuxFund
The Linux Fund is a neat way to fund open source projects....
How? Just head over to their website,
http://www.linuxfund.org/, and sign up for a
LinuxFund Master Card.
The card has this cute picture of Tux on it (you'll get people commenting on the card all the time.... :)
Everytime you use the card, the Linux Fund gets a little bit of money from MBNA America (the bank that issues the cards).
Not only that, but if someone sees the penguin on the card, you can talk to them about Linux, Free Software, etc...
But what are the people doing with my cash?
Q: What is the mission of the LinuxFund.org?
A: Giving. We seek to advance the art of the Open Source(1), by:
- Granting scholarships to university students who show promise as Open Source developers.
- Issuing development grants for projects which may not be suitable for commercial or volunteer efforts but which will enhance the long-term vitality of the Open Source. All projects we fund will become Open Source. To be more clear, the projects that we aim to fund are the development and the documentation of Open Source.
