DOSC TWiki snapshot as of mid-2005
The Open Directory Project (ODP) is commonly known as DMOZ, for directory.mozilla.org; the server is normally accessed as dmoz.org.
It is a web directory, similar to Yahoo (it was created as a response to Yahoo's apparent inability to keep up with submissions. A key feature is that it is maintained nearly entirely by volunteer editors. Currently, the OpenDirectory claims over 3.8 million sites, 55,084 volunteer editors, and over 460,000 categories. The WikiPedia has a page on the OpenDirectory. SamReisner - 12 Feb 2003
