Software Ed --

Ed (probably from Editor) is the granddaddy of Vi?. In fact, whenever you run Vi you're actually running Ed underneath it (not sure if this is still true for Elvis?, Vim?, and other modern implementations of Vi...).

There's probably a website somewhere for vi. I'm blindly guessing (because I don't have time to check right now) that http://www.vi.org will take you somewhere useful.
