The Vogons are a creation of Douglas Adams, author of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

What about destroying the earth ??

Hopefully I'm not spoiling much here, but in book 1 of the series the Vogons (an alien race?) swoop in with their ships and destroy earth? because they need to make way for a "new intergalactic highway? bypass".
