NicePeople

The fact is that there are an awful lot of nice people out there in the world. No, really!

So why are people nice?

Google search, as usual gives us the answer:

Natalie Angier? says that "researchers found that when the women chose mutualism over "me-ism," the mental circuitry? normally associated with reward-seeking behavior swelled to life."1

So the answer is: "Altruism gives us a high. More blood gets to our head and we feel 'happy'".

But wait! That's not all the the google master bestows upon us. Nope, it turns out that

"The popular dance drug ecstasy? is the chemical Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA for short. It ... generates feelings of love? and friendliness - people feel "loved up?" and "blissed out?". ... [in fact] ecstasy makes people nice?, not nasty"2

So really, either people are nice because they get natural highs?, or they're nice because they're partaking of the ecstaze.

Oh, and before you run off to get some tablets, here's our quick precautions about Ecstacy: * E is often cut with random drugs? like anaesthetics and drugs for Parkinson's Disease? * E can make your brain swell?. No, not in imaginary land?, but in the real world?. That sounds like it would really really suck?.

(precautions from reference #2)
