TheGreen

The Green, the quad of grass in the middle of the Dartmouth campus, serves a very important role in College life in Hanover.

• In the fall, we build a bonfire? in the middle of the green
• In the winter, we have a christmas tree? in the center and then build a snow sculpture on the green for Winter Carnival
• Come spring, we wait for the snow to melt,
• and in late spring and summer we relax on it, play frisbee?, pretend to study?, etc...

History

Back in the day, faculty let cattle graze on the green. Later, we played baseball on the land (which supposedly influenced the current paths that exist on the Green)

Wacky stuff

• A couple of years ago an artist lit up the green with all kinds of colored lights? at night. It was rather amusing.
